Infoblox Inc. today announced that Université de Montréal, Quebec’s largest research institution and second largest university in Canada, has installed and implemented 12 Infoblox appliances throughout its campus location. Université de Montréal is using Infoblox appliances to deliver essential network infrastructure services, including domain name system (DNS) resolution, IP address assignment (DHCP), and IP address management (IPAM).
While evaluating each vendor, Michel L’Heureux, Director of Telecommunications at Université de Montréal, and his team found Infoblox more flexible. “The simplicity of deploying a new version of Infoblox NIOS is amazing and because of HA, there is no downtime during upgrades and every configuration is synchronized automatically,” said L’Heureux. “Additionally, the amount of flexibility for management and migration of the backend DNS and DHCP data was easier with Infoblox. We found the Infoblox appliance solution fit better with our organizational and workflow models and we can rely on a strong and responsive support team from Infoblox.”
The university selected Infoblox-1050 appliances running the Infoblox Network Services Suite and unique Infoblox Grid™ technology for their primary data centers. The Infoblox Grid technology links a collection of appliances into a unified, centrally-managed platform. Benefits include resilient DDI services, unified management and real-time, secure, system-wide updates. They also selected Infoblox-550 appliances to address all its DNS, DHCP and IPAM (DDI) needs throughout its campus environment. Infoblox’s central management, easy updates/patching and “one-button” disaster recovery capability alleviated workloads that often took months, condensing it into mere hours.
Aside from providing outstanding support and a solid foundation, the university also selected Infoblox for their technological and conformity expertise.
L’Heureux concluded: “Infoblox provided us with a robust and manageable appliance—exactly what we were looking for. We have better control over our DNS and DHCP services with built-in automated IPAM, and the Infoblox appliances will allow us to scale above expectation.”
