Infoblox Extends Its Enterprise-Grade Network Services to the AWS Cloud

Infoblox Inc. (NYSE:BLOX), the network control company, today introduced Infoblox DDI for Amazon Web Services (AWS), a virtual appliance that extends the Infoblox solution for enterprise-grade network services and security to the AWS Cloud.

Infoblox is an industry leader in DNS, DHCP, and IP address managementthe category known as DDI. As Infoblox customers move to next-generation IT architectures that combine traditional networks with on-premises environments and cloud deployments, Infoblox is helping to enable these shifts by supporting a unified, consistent architecture across these platforms.

Infoblox DDI for AWS (www.infoblox.com/aws), which runs in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) environments, manages DNS records and IP addresses and integrates seamlessly with an organization’s existing Infoblox infrastructure. The offering, the first from Infoblox for the cloud, also supports DNS firewall security to detect infected workloads and help prevent the spread of malware.

Among the benefits of Infoblox DDI for AWS are:

  • Agility. Manual provisioning of DNS records creates a bottleneck in setting up virtual servers and deploying new applications on AWS. Infoblox DDI for AWS can reduce provisioning times for network resources from hours or days to just minutes. Also, automated reclamation of DNS records and IP addresses when customers decommission AWS instances helps to avoid waste of network resources.
  • Consistency. Infoblox helps ensure a uniform policy for DNS naming conventions and IP address assignments across AWS, on-premises environments, and traditional networks through a single, unified solution. This helps eliminate configuration errors and reduce unplanned outages.
  • Visibility. Network administrators can be out of the loop when individual business units set up virtual instances and even entire networks in the cloud. Infoblox performs non-disruptive, automatic discovery of instances and networks within an organization’s AWS environment, even across geographic regions, to meet security and compliance needs for data hosted on AWS.

Infoblox now supports more cloud and virtualization platforms than any other DDI vendor. In addition to AWS, supported platforms include VMware, Microsoft, OpenStack, Cisco, HP, BMC, CA, and Elasticbox. This broad support enables organizations to evolve their cloud strategy based on business needs, while maintaining consistent network-services infrastructures without costly and disruptive migrations.
