Infoblox Inc. (NYSE:BLOX), the network control company that offers the most comprehensive single-vendor solution for securing DNS inside enterprise networks, today announced that Kevin Mitnick, known as the world’s most famous hacker, will give the closing keynote speech on May 19 at Bloxfest, the first customer conference from Infoblox.
Once on the FBI’s Most Wanted list because of exploits that included hacking into 40 major corporations, Mitnick turned from a black hat to a white hat and is now a trusted security consultant to companies and governments worldwide. Mitnick and his company, The Global Ghost Team™, have maintained a perfect track record of hacking into any system they are paid to penetrate, using a combination of technical exploits and social engineering.
Mitnick is one of the world’s top cybersecurity speakers, and has been a commentator, security analyst, or interview subject on CNN, CNBC, Al Jazeera, FOX News, CBC, BBC, Radio Moscow, Tech TV, National Public Radio, Good Morning America, and 60 minutes—to name a few. He has written three books, including his autobiography—Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World’s Most Wanted Hacker, a New York Times bestseller.
In his keynote, Mitnick will give a guided tour, full of real-world examples, on how hackers think and how they ply their tradecraft. He will explain how to see an organization through a hacker’s eyes, while sharing insights for strengthening defenses through concrete and actionable best practices.
Set for May 17 – 19 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, Bloxfest (www.bloxfest.com) will be a gathering of network infrastructure and security practitioners eager to learn and share best practices around DNS, DHCP, and IP address management—the category known as DDI—as well as related topics such as security, cloud, and automation. Today’s world of rapid growth in connected devices, proliferation of data stored across multiple platforms, and continuous exposure to malicious intent has created an imperative for enterprises to better control and secure their network infrastructures.
“While organizations build stronger and stronger defenses for their front doors, hackers are busy searching for under-protected back doors into the networks they are targeting,” said Mitnick. “The Domain Name System (DNS) is one such back door, and I look forward to speaking at Bloxfest because Infoblox is an industry leader in securing DNS infrastructure.”
“Bloxfest is designed as a celebration of the unsung heroes who keep networks up and running,” said Ashish Gupta, chief marketing officer at Infoblox. “Kevin Mitnick’s dramatic story of moving from the dark side to the right side will be the perfect conclusion to three days of learning, making new connections, and fun.”
Attendees will also hear from their peers, partners, and Infoblox executives in daily keynotes, more than 60 track sessions and many opportunities for informal mingling.
