Infoblox Addresses Rapidly Growing Network Load Caused by Smartphones and Tablets with New Level of Scalability

Proliferation of IP-enabled Devices Requires Next-Generation Approach to Essential DNS and DHCP Systems

Infoblox Inc. today announced availability of its Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager appliance designed to provide enterprises and service providers with greatly enhanced domain name system (DNS) and IP address assignment (DHCP) scalability and segmentation.

With the proliferation of IP-enabled devices—especially smartphones and tablets, IP address requests and DNS queries are increasing rapidly. Each device requires an IP address and each application that runs on an IP-enabled device requires a number of DNS queries to connect to the Internet and perform a task. To address the ever expanding volume of IP address requests and DNS queries, a new level of DNS and DHCP scalability and segmentation is required that Infoblox delivers with the Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager.

“In the not too distant future everyone and everything—from your dog to your toaster—is going to have an IP address,” said Tracy Corbo, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Management Associates. “Enterprise environments are vulnerable as everything goes IP; the explosion of IP-enabled devices, coupled with a transition from IPv4 to IPv6, is going to create IP management chaos. Poorly managed IP networks will lead to increased network downtime or failed network segments. Now more than ever it is important that IT departments take the time to examine their DNS and DHCP systems and ensure that these systems can keep pace as more pressure is placed on IP-based networks.”

Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager Fortifies DNS and DHCP

The introduction of Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager represents the latest technology advancement from Infoblox, which pioneered development of the first integrated DNS, DHCP and IPAM (DDI) systems. Infoblox’s DDI solution also includes unique Infoblox Grid™ technology that links a collection of appliances into a unified, centrally-managed platform for DNS and DHCP service resilience and manageability benefits.

Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager complements Infoblox’s integrated DDI systems, boosting scalability of the systems to support up to 3 billion DNS queries per second and 5 billion DHCP queries per day. It also enables segmentation of up to 500,000 networks to facilitate load and data partitioning based on security and regional business line preferences.

To help administrators manage this scale and segmentation, the Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager also includes single “pane of glass” management. This enables a global view from a single user interface into all grids within a network as well as into specific segments and devices of individual grids.

Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager Exemplifies Next-Generation DDI

Adoption of virtualization, cloud computing, IPv6 and mobility is introducing new network challenges disrupting the status quo and compromising network uptime. In response, Infoblox has developed a next-generation approach to DDI that addresses the new network challenges with built-in automation, real-time visibility and control, massive scale, integration and performance. Infoblox Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager is Infoblox’s newest next-generation DDI solution bringing unprecedented scale to these essential services.

“Virtualization, IPv6 and the proliferation of IP-enabled mobile devices are introducing new IT challenges that could result in a ‘perfect network storm’ unless enterprises and service providers proactively address this growth and the changing network requirements,” said Kevin Dickson, Infoblox Vice President of Product Management. “Next-generation network services platforms like Infoblox’s Trinzic Multi-Grid Manager are designed implicitly to mask network complexity and alleviate risk, while increasing business agility.”
